The history of our Cantina has its roots in the period just after the First World War when a few of the Lambrusco grape producers decided to unite their forces and created a Cooperative. 19 partners united their forces to pool their expertise and found in this structure, which was at the forefront as a company for that age, the courageous answer to all their expectations. So, on 15th April 1923 The Cantina Sociale Cooperativa di Sorbara came into existence and was based in the nearby area of Sorbara in the heart of the typical zone of Lambrusco di Sorbara wine situated on the floodplains between the rivers Secchia and Panaro.

Today the Cantina di Sorbara is a cooperative with 410 grape producing partners with a production capacity of around 80,000 hectolitres of wine a year. Modern technology has allowed the Cantina to constantly improve the production so is able to always offer a high quality product.

Its winery reputation comes from the fact that right from the beginning the Cantina produced bottled wine of an excellent quality
( first recognition came in 1927 ).
The Cantina has continued making steady efforts to adapt the production pointing the company in the direction of the high quality wine making range, for a discerning and qualified clientele.

The results today are that great care is taken in producing our wines both for their organoleptic and technological features. In fact they are highly appreciated by connoisseurs who know that behind our Lambrusco lies a labour of patience and a being faithful to tradition, which has inspired, and continues to inspire all our production philosophy so important in the wine-making world.  Constant research in quality has brought us to introduce state-of-the-art techniques and technology.

In summing up, our aim is to produce the best Lambrusco di Sorbara, following tradition but keeping a keen eye on innovation.
